Description:
Measurement of thyroglobulin antibodies and thyroid�peroxidase antibodies is useful in the diagnosis and management of a variety of thyroid disorders including autoimmune thyroiditis, Hashimoto's Disease, Graves Disease and certain types of goiter.

Thyroid antibody testing is primarily ordered to help diagnose an autoimmune thyroid disease and to separate it from other forms of thyroiditis. It may be ordered to help investigate the cause of an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter) or performed as a follow-up when thyroid test results such as T3, T4 and TSH are abnormal indicating thyroid dysfunction.
